Experiments

Another distinctive feature was the extensive use of human subjects in medical experiments.  The most notorious of these physicians was Dr. Josef Mengele, who worked in Auschwitz.  His experiments including placing subjects in pressure chambers, testing drugs on them, freezing them, attempting to change eye color with chemical injections into children's eyes and various amputations and other brutal surgeries.  The doctor's seemed particularly keen on working with Roma Children.  They would bring them sweets and toys and bring them personally to the gas chambers and watch them die.
